This series is for everyone who wants to deepen their practice of Contact Improvisation, especially movers who want to expand their physical skillset AND their practice of relational presence. With partner and ensemble exercises as the research base, we will practice flying and supporting, dynamic understandings of anatomy, finding integral strength in ourselves and others, and invite expansive improvisation with embodied attention. Let's experience the body as a vessel of experimental inquiry, somatic communication, and wild physicality.
Carmen and Rajendra met in Finland at the European Contact Improvisation Teacher exchange in 2010. Since then we have inspired each other in dance and life, each with our own perspectives. Carmen brings in the world of Axis Syllabus, energetic and somatic attunement and relational touch as well as her background as a therapist. Rajendra brings in his expertise using the felt sense as a tool for orientation and improvisation, as well as his background in theatre. We are looking forward to co-creating this series of joyful learning together.
We strive to foster a space for learning that is inclusive and incorporates personal objectives within the practice as a group. We want to support your individual deepening in sensing, moving, theory and somatic integration to widen the perspective of dance and understanding of what a body is.
*Saturday March 28 - Anne Cooper from Vancouver will offer a DAY of the UNDERSCORE. We encourage you to come to both. More info coming soon...
** Saturday, May 30 - A day of CI practice for experienced dancers. More info coming soon...
