The Falling into Fall JAM in Bellingham is a Contact Improvisation weekend hosted by Carmen and Rajendra Serber, featuring a special workshop with Sabine Parzer accompanied by Ira Echo. We are lucky to have Stu Phillips, Michal Lahav, Boots and Pretzel as additional facilitators. Music by Serge Gubelman, Eric Mulhern and Sway. On Sunday evening, we host another farewell dinner at our home.

Join us to practice Contact Improvisation with the inspiration of classes, scores, labs, music and of course jamming. We are invested in creating a welcoming and safe container while also inviting the experimental nature of a radical community process.

At the Peace, Education and Somatic School (previously called the Aikido Peace Education Center) in the Masonic Hall, downtown Bellingham, WA.

Release.Activate.Connect

Holistic Dance with focus on Contemporary Dance Improvisation, Contact Improvisation, Feldenkrais Principles, Developmental Movement, Somatics

For all levels

This workshop addresses our ability to be present with each breath, movement and connection, to dance in a state of deep release and immediate activation. Incorporating somatic principles, developmental movement and anatomical investigations with Improvisation, Release.Activate.Connect allows us to celebrate the mindfulness of our innate body wisdom.

Dancing works best when we allow ourselves to be soft and clear, in communication and connection to our own needs and others. Our goal in the improvisation is increased internal awareness, sensitivity, and connectivity that is available in the dance for self- referencing (anatomical/sensory) and connection, while dancing solo, with a partner or in group improvisations.

*What is a Group Shake?
A Group Shake is a durational collective somatic event. We shake, to music {most of the time}, together for a duration with the emphasis on shaking and rocking the body in various ways. It can look like dancing but we don't have to be concerned with appearance, skill or rhythm. Group and individual ecstatic and meditative states can be achieved [but may not be]. Shaking is a simple and individual task-based practice without explicit goals but also beneficial for circulation, nervous system and systemic health. Shaking takes many formats in cultures around the globe, across lifeforms, and to the subatomic level. Shaking is one of the body's natural impulses to relieve tension.

Who is this for?
This is for anyone who loves to shake! Or anyone who is curious around how this would feel, what this would disturb and what this would settle. This is for people who want to develop more awareness of their bodies. This is for anyone who has a creative practice and needs disruption, a reallocation of their cells. This is for you! And for me - I really want to do this.

** Description "How we do it": As we unravel from our high kingdoms/queendoms we find ourselves groveling for substance/meaning/resolution. In this highfalutin lab we'll wrestle with our unknown confusion 'til it settles, in relation.
