Practice is the way of the Body

Practice is the way of the Body

It is Summer here in the Pacific Northwest! I am the most social I have been in a long time. I didn’t think I had so much extroverted potential! My older kid turned 11 recently and one of his friends at the birthday scavenger hunt party told me that there are introverts and outroverts in the world. He didn’t just leave it at that, he eloquently pointed out many surprising details and nuances around those polarities and I couldn’t help feeling hopeful for this next generation despite ALL ELSE. Of course he knew that the correct term is "extrovert" but "outrovert" made more sense to him.

I started a shaking and dancing practice in Bellingham! Anya Smolnikova introduced me to the one hour durational group shake at the Field Center, VT. I offer it here now with an additional hour of dancing and improvising together. It is fun and made me realize how much I love the practice of practicing together. The playful and easeful ways people come together to practice something they love. I truly feel practice is the way of the body, the way of learning, the way of getting deeper and find depths. I aspire to inspire as a teacher and facilitator, to be a transmitter of movement experience, but depths comes only with practice.

I would like to invite you to my offerings in Bellingham and elsewhere. My workshop in Leavenworth is in just a couple of weeks. It is beginner friendly and on a beautiful piece of land. Sensing Consent - Sensing what is happening is one of the most important skills in CI. I never imagined what can be sensed when I started my journey as a dancer. The exquisite and infinite refinements of touch perception that opens nuances of play and ways to relate was not in my awareness. It can be such joy to create a dance together that stirs from the abundance of nuanced touch.

Here are my offerings for August and September, Nita Little's training and other events I organize, co-teach and/or curate:
