Who doesn't want to start the day with a dance class?! A movement class where you won’t imitate a teacher in front of a freakin’ mirror. Instead, you’ll enter a river of movement—finding resonance with yourself and with each other. Yes, we’ll sweat. Yes, we’ll sense in. Yes, we’ll have fun, and yes, there will be challenging moments. We’ll embrace it all.
In this class, we explore the intelligence of our joints and the relationships that organize our movement. How do our joints support adaptation, balance, and fluidity? How do our bones, muscles, and connective tissues communicate as we move through space?
Using the Axis Syllabus as a foundation, we investigate shifting, falling, spinning, jumping, and changing direction while cultivating awareness in moments of disorientation. We might identify habitual patterns that serve us and also some that don't. We discover the body as a fluid, multidimensional space rather than a rigid structure controlling it.
We dance solo and with others, exploring the body in relationship and entering a playful mode of embodied research. Through sensation, curiosity, and shared attention, we discover new possibilities for moving, adapting, and being moved.
